EGD upper endoscopy in Arlington, TX

Every DRP Surgery cash price is one flat number covering the surgeon, facility, anesthesia and pathology. No separate bills later. The initial consultation and evaluation is $200, and your exact procedure and price are confirmed at that visit before anything is scheduled.

What is an EGD?

During an EGD, a thin flexible tube with a camera is passed through the mouth while you are sedated. It shows inflammation, ulcers, bleeding, narrowing and other problems in the upper digestive tract. Small tissue samples (biopsies) can be taken during the same procedure and sent to pathology, which is included in the price.

Reasons you may need an EGD

  • Heartburn or acid reflux that keeps coming back or does not respond to medication
  • Trouble swallowing or food that feels stuck
  • Ongoing upper abdominal pain, nausea or vomiting
  • Signs of bleeding, such as vomiting blood or black, tarry stools
  • Unexplained anemia or weight loss
  • Checking for ulcers, H. pylori infection or Barrett’s esophagus

Vomiting blood, or passing black or bloody stools, needs emergency care right away.

What to expect

You will be asked not to eat or drink for several hours beforehand. The procedure itself usually takes about 15 to 30 minutes and is done under sedation, so most people remember little or nothing of it.

Because of the sedation, you will need someone to drive you home.

Recovery

Most people feel back to normal the same day, though your throat may be a little sore. Dr. P will go over what he found and let you know when biopsy results are back.

What the $1,275 includes

  • Surgeon fee for Dr. Rajesh S. Padmanabhan, MD, FACS, board-certified general surgeon
  • Facility fee
  • Anesthesia
  • Pathology
