What is a lipoma?

A lipoma is a slow-growing lump of fatty tissue under the skin. It usually feels soft and rubbery and moves slightly when pressed. Lipomas are almost always benign, but other soft tissue masses, such as cysts and, rarely, cancers, can look similar, which is why removed tissue is sent to pathology. Pathology is included in the price.
